Many property tax services are paid a share of the savings they find, and the fee comes back in each year the savings do.

Why it can come back every year
In Texas, the appraisal review board's decisions are binding only for the tax year in question.1 In California, a decline-in-value appeal applies only to the year you file and does not carry forward.2 Under percentage pricing, each year a reduction holds is another year of fees on the same home.
